We’ve offered the ability to export media we host for years now, this was however a one at a time process. While this feature isn’t for everyone, users that have accumulated thousands of uploads with us over the years will appreciate the ability to export them up with just a few clicks.

To try out the feature just visit http://pixelpipe.com/export. This has been designed as a desktop or tablet experience, you can however torture yourself with a tiny UI if you insist on doing everything from your phone.

This feature isn’t just for Twitter & can be utilized with our Google Buzz, LinkedIn, Yahoo Meme & even our foursquare integration to name a few. Anytime you post media to any of the supported services we’ll automatically upload to your chosen photo or video host & send out a shortened http://pi.pe link to your status/micro-blog service back to the media.

Here’s a rundown of the new features:

Identi.ca, LinkedIn, Plurk, Status.net, Yahoo Meme & even status updates to Yahoo! & Google.
- Full HD playback of videos hosted on YouTube, Nokia Ovi & Flickr.
- Feature works with your existing Pipes, just go to My Pipes & add your media host(s).

To get started simply:

1. Add a Pipe to any of the supported media hosts including Flickr, Ovi, Picasa & YouTube

2. Add or edit your Pipe for any of the supported status & micro0blog services eg. Twitter, LinkedIn & select your host for photos & video.

3. Profit!

That’s it, now when you post we’ll take care of the upload & automatically link it back to your chosen host.

Each Pixelpipe pi.pe page can contain a combination of photos, video, audio & even files, the contents of the uploads are posted with the oldest at the top so your viewers can see your story in the order you posted. A good example of usage would be a vacation where you’re posting photos & videos with a 24 hour delay for grouping before we post a single Tweet to your followers. A more typical example would be a few posts with our default 5 min delay as you’ll find in this example from my lunch at Bento415 yesterday http://pi.pe/-wtj94p.

Here’s an example of a pi.pe page demonstrating the media uploaded, geo-location and our new previous uploads stream view (on the right). One item to note is that the previous uploads view is specific to this Pixelpipe service and will only contain media you’ve uploaded to this specific Twitter Pipe. What this means is that your family pictures uploaded to Kodak for example will not be viewable in this stream, only the pictures you’ve previously uploaded to this Twitter Pipe.

Here’s a brief overview of the functionality we provide for defining and managing your Pipes below

The My Pipes page is a simple interface for managing your destinations, anything listed as a default will be included every time you upload unless you’ve defined a Routing tag (see below). One nice feature is the ability to temporarily disable a default destination and not have to authenticate again.

To setup the ability to send to an individual pipe or group of destinations simply select ‘Change Settings’ from the ‘Add Pipes’ page. From here you can set a unique ‘Display name’ for your destination as well as define ‘Routing tag(s)’.

Basically you can define a tag with @Routing tag to your upload and have that media delivered to any destination with the same Routing tag. It’s actually really easy, just keep these rules in mind.

- Including a Routing tag will override your default destinations and only deliver to destinations with the included routing tag(s).

-Routing tags do not currently work with email uploads however are supported with our other desktop and mobile upload solutions

- Routing tags don’t need to be unique, and you can add multiple short names to create groups of accounts, just separate each with a comma.

Example setting up Routing Tags under My Pipes:

Pipe 1 Routing tag @: facebook,personal,all
Pipe 2 Routing tag @: flickr,public,all

Add the keyword @personal or @facebook and it will be sent to Pipe 1, add the keyword @all and it will be sent through both pipes.

The default value is set to a 5min delay between the first upload and the actual post however it’s user configuable by editing your blog options under My Pipes. We also include the ability to send your media to specific destinations or groups of destinations based on Short names or tags, a description of the feature can be found here http://is.gd/1UOs

The option that allows you to specify when your media will be sent can be found under ‘Post items’. The choices range from send immediately which will post as soon as we receive it to everyday where we’ll collect all of your uploads and post at the end of a 24 hour period, the choice is yours.
